Sofia Richie is a “freak” when it comes to her daily skincare regime.
The 18-year-old fledgling catwalk queen is quickly making a name for herself in the modelling world, starring in campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors.
But with all the heavy make-up she has to wear for photoshoots, the blonde beauty is very careful to protect her youthful complexion, so follows a detailed cleansing routine each day.
“I’m a freak about washing my face because when I work I have make-up on, then I take it off, put it on again, and I don’t know what brushes are dirty so I’m a freak when I get home,” she told Galore magazine. “I have my Lancer kit that I use every night, every morning.”
In the accompanying editorial for her interview, Sofia channels her inner flower child, posing in a 1960s-inspired pink crochet crop top and matching bell bottoms.
And while she’s also featured on the cover of the publication, being the daughter of music icon Lionel Richie and sister of fashion star Nicole Richie means that Sofia has had to fight to prove herself.
“I mean I went through it for a really long time, just feeling really in their shadow, but I grew out of it. I tried to separate myself as much as possible, figure out what I liked to do and how to get it done my own way instead of having them consistently helping me out. It’s a work in progress, but I’m trying,” she shared.
Sofia, who was recently in the tabloid spotlight after a brief relationship with Justin Bieber, adds that she tries to convey an authentic version of her life when using social media. The star boasts 1.7 million followers on Instagram, and is well aware she has a unique platform through which to connect with fans.
“I think people can make their lives look really different on social media, not saying that’s a terrible thing,” she added. “I try not to be, like I make a point to try and be very myself.”
